Team Sanity

WOW what weekend, I took a day off from the confines of my apartment and the heavily stacked books of my due homework to head into downtown DC with an awesome friend of mine to enjoy Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity and or/ Fear. We got their pretty early with not so much hassle as you would expect on the metro.

We brought our folding chairs and baby stroller so the princess could chill as well since Daddy had to work this weekend. It was the best idea ever! We got their so early and checked on getting up near the stage, it was standing room only so of course that wasn't practical when you have a 4 month baby with you and will need to be fed and have her diapers changed. So we found this awesome spot near the first jumbo-tron that kept us out of the sun and since the crowd was so heavy it actually kept us cool as well.

We set up the chairs and flanked our area with the stroller. Everyone had been real nice until this woman was like, 'Can you move your stroller over there?' because she wanted to stand where the stroller was. Well normally I would have been like ok no problem but the crowd was starting to push in and I didn't want the Princess out of my arm length so I got a little nasty and told her no I wasn't moving her. The woman never said anything again about it and just stood there watching with the rest of us.

When I saw there was a lot of people on the ground, there was a lot of people. Shoulder to shoulder we all stood in line laughing at the satire of J.S on the screen. The countdown began, the crowd was getting excited and out came The Roots! The first of many bands to play and did they ever rock the house! Then of course at 1pm..It happens the crowd goes into a full out roar as Jon Stewart walked across the stage and it just got better from there, The Wave, Ozzy, Cat Stevens, Kid Rock.. the show never stopped!

I've been to these kinds of events before and normally you have to be totally on your guard because things get really crazy. But even I was impressed because the crowds were so calm, laughing, dancing and enjoying ourselves. Even when my girl O, the Princess and I left it was like leaving on the "peace train". There was this feeling that history had been created today and we were right in the middle of it.

Just a few high-lights

The Crowd..And only part of it-

FEAR THE BABY! The Princess had to be different and took on FEAR instead of Sanity:-p
