When addressing ones child

Today I was at the library working my research proposal that's due on Tuesday Evening (I know I'm cutting it super close) and I have the Princess in her carrier next to me at the desk. Now normally I get the ohh and ahhs and she just goes GAGA over it laughing and smiling enjoying the attention.

No problems there but I had something that I've never had happened before, I was questioned if I knew me own child's sex! That's right, point blank asked.

In this day and age when color for babies doesn't really mean anything, I mean I dress The Princess in just about anything, blue, green, pink, yellow, it all looks good on her..ESPECIALLY green. So you really can't go just by color. So normally when I don't know if it's a boy or a girl I will just say something general. Like, 'What a precious baby' or 'What a sweet darling' (goes for boy or girl)

9 times out of 10 the mother or whomever will let off if it's a he/she and then you can go on and on about how cute the little one is.

But today as I said, I was in the library and the woman came up to me and asks, "Is that a boy you have? He's so cute."

Me: "No she's a girl but thank you."

Woman says: "Are you sure?"

Now I'm not sure where THAT came from but I almost busted out laughing because yeah I think I'm pretty sure that my daughter is a girl. :-p The woman continued to stand there for a few moments staring at the Princess until she finally walked away as if she wanted me to pull her diaper off to prove it.

I mean you can't go completely by colors but when a little girl is wearing pink with purple hearts and a bow on her head...It's a pretty good sign that she's a girl.

Seriously, there are some STRANGE people living here

Our little "Lady" Bug :o)

I went to school in the south for 4 years, so I can understand what you mean by us strange northerners haha.
However, even I have to admit, that lady was very socially awkward. Your Princess is adorable (and very much looks like a girl).

WOW two comments! I wasn't expecting this:o) Thank you so much for both of your sweet comments.

@Emmylou It was a dumb move because I could have said so many other things about someones baby other then what she came up with.

@Cupcake, I do agree it was a very socially awkward moment. Just hoping I don't come around her anytime soon at the library!
